Abstract: On the basis of their complete stress-strain curve under uniaxial compressive loading, the post-failure behaviours of rocks are discussed. According to these behaviours, the failure of rocks can be divided into two categories, Ⅰ and Ⅱ; and both of them may change each other depending on different strain rates.
