Application of Centrifuge to Nodel Crackingof Earth-Rockfill Dam Core

Dam cracking due to differential settlement is a problem in urgent need of better underetand-ing for the sake of dam safety. This paper describes using centrifuge modeling technique to predict thepotential cracking in earth dam design. A list of scale relations for the centrifuge model test derived bydimensional analysis is given in Tables 2 and 3, and a series of centrifuge tests has been conclucted toinvestigate three different machanism of cracking in earth dams.
