Differential Settlements of Residential Buildings on Soft Foundation

More Information
  • Published Date: July 25, 1991
  • This paper is based on the settlements records of some residential buildings on soft soil foundation in the area of new Fuzhou Power Station. According to the regional engineering experiences as well as to the knowledge and view of the writer, the causes of producing differential settlements and their characteristics of distribution in an individual residential building or in a group of buildings on the soft soil foundation are carefully studied. Comments are made on some relevant stipulations found in building codes with respect to subsoils and foundations. Some effective technical measures to reduce differential settlements are accordingly recommended.
