A suction probe for direct measurement of high matric suction
A suction probe and a saturation system were developed to measure the negative pore water pressure(matric suction) directly.After adopting purposely designed saturation procedures,the probe was able to measure a suction up to 500 kPa.The accuracy of the probe was verified by calibrating it using an established relationship between the osmotic suction and the concentration of a salt solution.Consistent results were obtained.
