Cooling effect of embankments with perforated ventilation pipes

More Information
  • Published Date: August 14, 2008
  • Various factors of influence on the cooling effect of embankments with perforated ventilation pipes were studied. It was shown that the impact of various trepanning rates in ventilation pipes on the cooling effect of embankments was significant.Generally the cooling effect of ventilated embankments increased with the increasing trepanning rate in the ventilation pipes.Evaporation of water within the soil samples through pores in the ventilation pipe shells during ventilating could trigger the effect of vapor transfer and significantly lower the temperature of the soil in the ventilated embankments.Various materials of ventilation pipes might also have some influence on the cooling effect of ventilated embankments. The cooling effect of embankments with perforated ventilation pipes during ventilating under zero temperature was stronger than that under fluctuating temperature.
