  • The effect of embedment depth was first analyzed including Gibson effect,trench effect,side-wall contact effect,retaining wall effect and floating foundation effect.Then a new settlement calculation method for embedded foundation resting on elastic soil was presented.The reduction coefficients of settlement considering effect of embedment depth were discussed in the end and some valuable conclusions were drawn.
