A new type of triaxial apparatus with γ rays for unsaturated soils test

Based on the analysis of characteristics and problems of the traditional triaxial apparatus,the aim for developing the apparatus is proposed. Further, a new apparatus is developed for unsaturated soil test with coincident measurements of dry density and water content of the specimen using γray measuring system. The improvements and the corresponding implement are introduced.Then, some specific tests are carried out to demonstrate the applicability of the apparatus.
