Limit analysis of soft ground reinforced by geosynthetics

The stability of soft ground reinforced by geosynthetics is currently analyzed by conventional circular arc method.In this paper it is confirmed that the circular arc slide is not a kinematically admissible failure mode,and the only possible way of failure of the reinforced ground is lateral spreading of soil under the geosynthetic layer.Accordingly,a simple wedge equilibrium method has been proposed for the design of such ground.
