Abstract

In this paper, a new method is presented for determining the ultimate bearing capacity of composite soils. Firstly, the complete analytical solutions are given for the strength of a composite cell subjected to a triaxial loading corresponding to both the upper and lower bounds analyses, which provide an insight into the reinforcement mechanism. The results of the analysis agree well with those of the experiments.
