Numerical implementation for subloading Cam-clay model in ABAQUS

  • The user subroutine UMAT for user-defined material behaviors in commercial FEM code ABAQUS is utilized for subloading Cam-clay model. The drained and undrained triaxial shear tests on heavily overconsolidated soil are simulated using ABAQUS with the proposed UMAT code. The results are compared with the analytical solutions. The drained and undrained triaxial shear tests on overconsolidated soil with different OCRs are also simulated. It has been proved that the calculated results are valid and can reflect the strain softening behaviors of overconsolidated soil.
